Squares
This collection is about the anonymity of Tehran squares. In Tehran, places are called squares, which they actually do not have the structure of the squares and in fact they are roundabout or traffic circles. The square is a place for gathering and interacting of the people, and it has social, economic or other uses. It is forbidden for cars to enter to the square, but the roundabout has a traffic aspect so that cars and vehicles can circulate around its center. According to this definition, the number of squares in Tehran is few. Most of squares do not represent any identity, do not have a suitable symbols, and sometimes their names are not appropriate for their location. When Tehran was chosen as the capital of Iran, it had only one square that its name was “Arg”, which was a place for gathering people at different ceremonies. Then other squares with various applications were built, such as military applications, political applications and economical applications and etc. But the identity of these squares also became disarranged or lost over the time. In the near future, the identity will be rare element in Tehran. The photos were taken with a pinhole camera. – Alireza Zangiabadi
